They’ve even extended their hours to make it more accessible. Whether you have a 3 year old or a ten year old, the whole family will enjoy exploring who the museum has to offer. There are even special programming features this week like the amazing “Fire & Ice” demonstrations  or “Super Hero Science” in the Auditorium. And Teachers, don’t forget, you get in FREE with your badge!

Each day is themed and will have a variety of crafts, story times, and demonstrations happening on the hour. If your child is into Butterflies, head over today for “Monarch Monday” for catterpillar races and dot art. Are they interested in gardening? Visit Thursday for “Garden in the City” and discover etible seeds and bottle terrariums.  And there’s so much more! Did you know Tuesdays are FREE (with the exception of the Butterfly House)?!

They’ll be there all this week from 12-5pm. You could also head to Allen for a trip to Celebration Park or “off the beaten path” to Davis Park in Highland Park!

That’s out in front of the new Perot Museum! They are great during the day, but even cooler at night when they glow!

  1. Spring Break Bargains: Last Minute Ideas for This Weekend! | Dallas Moms Blog - April 27, 2013

[...] This next idea is a museum that doesn’t often get its due.  The Frontiers of Flight Museum is a fun find, located right at Dallas Love Field Airport.  Adults get in for just $8. Students are $5 and children under 3 are absolutely free.  All of this week they are doing a special “Staycation” themed event with different activities to do each day.  If you head over there today you’ll learn all about helicopters.  Kids of all ages can make and fly paper helicopters, do helicopter puzzles, or even color. The museum also features a flight simulator which is a big hit with older, aspiring pilots as well as fun for moms and dads!  We’ve had lots of fun at this museum in the past and you can learn more by reading about our other experiences at Frontiers of Flight here. (We love airplanes and this museum so much this also made our original list of Spring Break ideas Krystal wrote about here!)
